What tools are available for task management?

Contracts come with deadlines, and missed deadlines are expensive — termination dates, renewals, approvals, end of probation. ContractHero ties tasks directly to the contract they belong to: you see the related contract while editing, you can anchor tasks dynamically to contract fields (e.g. "90 days before the termination date" or "5 years after the start date"), and you get reminded automatically — no separate calendar entry required.

The result: fewer Excel trackers, fewer Outlook reminders, fewer "is anyone on top of this?" — and no more missed terminations because the end date moved.

Create a task on a contract

  1. Open the contract the task belongs to.
  2. In the right sidebar, click the "Tasks" tab (clipboard icon).

  1. Click "+ New task" in the top right — the "Create task" drawer opens.
  2. Enter a Title (required).
  3. Pick a Status: Open, In Progress, or Closed.
  4. The Contract field is pre-filled (the contract you started from).

Set a due date

You have three options — switch between the "Fixed date", "Dynamic date" and "No due date" tabs:

  • Fixed date: a specific calendar day. Good for one-off, plannable deadlines.
  • Dynamic date: an offset relative to a date field on the contract. Format: [number] [day/week/month/year] [before/after] [date field]. Available date fields today are Start date, End date and Termination date (all from the contract's term). Examples: "90 days before termination date", "5 years after start date". If the contract's reference date changes, the task moves with it. ContractHero shows the calculated due date below the fields so you can sanity-check before saving.
  • No due date: for to-dos without a fixed deadline.

Optional: Repeat and Reminder

  • Repeat: Click "Repeat". A row appears: repeat every [number] [day/week/month/year]. Example: "repeat every 1 year" for an annual contract review. Use the X on the right to remove the repetition again.
  • Create reminder: Click "Create reminder". A row appears: [number] [day/week/month/year] before due date. Example: "14 days before due date". You'll get an in-app notification (bell icon in the top right). Reminders always trigger before the due date.

Assignees, description and saving

Pick one or more team members under "Assignees" and add a short Description if helpful. Then click "Create" — the task immediately appears in the contract's task list.

See tasks across all contracts

In the main left navigation, click "Tasks". You'll find:

  • A table with every task in your workspace.
  • "Search task" for full-text search.
  • The "View: …" dropdown with the default view, your saved views, and views shared with you.
  • Filters on column headers (hover the header → menu icon).
  • Export the current view via the View dropdown.

You can also click "+ New task" here to add a new task — you'll just need to assign a contract before saving.

Relevant and overdue tasks are highlighted at the top of the overview.

Frequently asked questions

Can I schedule a task "X days after a date"?
Yes. In the dynamic date you can switch between before and after. Example: "5 years after start date" for a task that comes due at a 5-year milestone.

Which date fields are available for dynamic tasks?
Start date, End date, and Termination date — all from the contract's term. Other fields (e.g. signing date) are not currently selectable as a dynamic reference.

Can I create a task without a contract?
No. Tasks are always tied to a contract.

How do I get reminded about tasks?
Via in-app notification (bell icon in the top right). When creating the task, enable "Create reminder" and pick how far in advance you want the alert. Reminders always trigger before the due date.

Can I assign multiple people?
Yes — the "Assignees" field accepts multiple team members.

Can I export tasks?
Yes. In the Tasks area in the left navigation, open the View dropdown and pick "Export view".

Good to know

  • A task always belongs to one contract — by design, so context is never lost.
  • For a recurring task, the next instance is created automatically.
  • Closed tasks are preserved and can be brought back into view via filters in the global Tasks overview.
  • Changes to a contract's reference date (Start / End / Termination) move the dynamic tasks with them — no manual adjustment needed.
  • While configuring a Dynamic date, ContractHero shows the calculated date right under the fields, so you can verify before saving.
