# Slack app: get your ContractHero notifications directly in Slack

If your day already happens in Slack, you shouldn't have to keep a second tab open just to find out whether a task is due or a contract has finally been signed. With the **ContractHero Slack app**, your notifications arrive as a direct message in Slack — and two slash commands pull up your open tasks and the status of signature runs without opening ContractHero at all.

## What's in it for you

* **No missed deadlines.** Due tasks, completed signature runs and approval requests reach you where you're already looking all day.
* **An answer in seconds, not a tab switch.** `/mytasks` and `/contract-in-signing` answer the two most common in-between questions right in the chat.
* **One setup for the whole team.** The connection is made once for the workspace — nobody has to install or configure anything afterwards.
* **You stay in control.** Which notification goes through which channel is still decided centrally in ContractHero.

## Before you start

* The Slack app has to be **enabled for your organisation**. On the Integrations page the Slack card is marked **"On request"** („Auf Anfrage"). If the connection doesn't start for you, talk to your Customer Success Manager or to support.
* The connection grants a permission for the **entire Slack workspace**. It therefore has to be made by someone with **Slack admin or install rights**.
* A Slack workspace can be connected to **exactly one** ContractHero organisation.
* Notifications only reach Slack users who also have a ContractHero account. The matching happens automatically via the **email address** — it has to be identical in both systems.

## How it works

**1. Connect (once, by a Slack admin)**

In ContractHero, open the **Integrations** page („Integrationen", tab **"Apps"**), type **"Slack"** into the search field and click the **Slack** card.

**2. Confirm the request**

The **"Slack"** dialog opens with a description of the integration and the question **"Would you like to request this integration?"** („Möchten Sie diese Integration anfragen?"). Click **"Connect"** („Verbinden").

**3. Grant access in Slack**

Slack shows the authorisation screen **"Allow the 'ContractHero' app to access Slack"**. Check at the top that the **right workspace** is selected, then click **"Allow"**. The app is then allowed to send messages, open direct messages with you, and read the names and email addresses of the workspace members — the last one is what makes the automatic matching possible. You are then returned to ContractHero.

**4. Switch the notifications on**

Open your **Notifications** page („Benachrichtigungen"). You'll now find a third master toggle, **"All Slack notifications"** („Alle Slack-Benachrichtigungen"), marked **"New"** („Neu"), plus a third column **SLACK** next to **EMAIL** and **APPLICATION**. The master toggle switches on every Slack notification at once; the checkboxes in the column let you pick individually.

**5. Use the slash commands**

Type `/mytasks` or `/contract-in-signing` in Slack and press Enter. Only you see the reply — even if you run the command in a channel.

## The two slash commands

| Command | What you get back |
| ---- |
| `/mytasks` | Your open ContractHero tasks that are assigned to you |
| `/contract-in-signing` | Contracts currently in signing — including the status of each signer |

## Which notifications arrive in Slack?

In principle all of the ones you can also receive by email or in the application. On the Notifications page they are grouped into five sections — each one has the **SLACK** column:

* **Contracts** — created, edited, uploaded, imported, analysed, deleted or restored, comments and mentions, backup information, contract reminders
* **Tasks** — assigned, due date changed, due date reached, closed, several tasks updated
* **Signing** — signature run completed, rejected or failed, reminder for outstanding signatures
* **Approvals** — requested, accepted, rejected, cancelled, approval reminder
* **General and system** — a user joined your team, webhook retry failed, monthly status report

For every row you decide whether the notification arrives by email, in the application, in Slack — or on several channels at once.

## Common questions

### Slack says: "This Slack workspace is already linked to a different ContractHero organization." What does that mean?

Your Slack workspace is already connected to a different ContractHero organisation, and only one connection per workspace is possible. This typically happens if you run several ContractHero organisations (for example several legal entities) and were signed in to the wrong one while connecting. Check at the top left which organisation you are currently in. If the connection really should move to a different organisation, the existing one has to be released first — contact support for that.

### A slash command replies: "We could not match your Slack account to a ContractHero user in the connected organization. Make sure both accounts use the same email address." What now?

The email address on your Slack profile has no match in the connected ContractHero organisation. Two common causes:

* The two addresses differ (for example an alias address in ContractHero and the main address in Slack). Have one of them aligned.
* You do have a ContractHero account, but in a **different** organisation from the one connected to the workspace. In that case the matching doesn't apply.

The same logic applies to the notifications: without a hit on the email match, nothing is delivered to Slack.

### Does everyone have to install the app individually?

No. The connection is made once at workspace level. After that, each person only has to switch on their own Slack notifications on the Notifications page.

### Do I have to look for the app in the Slack App Store?

No. You start the connection directly from ContractHero via the Integrations page.

### Do colleagues without a ContractHero account see anything?

No. Notifications only go to Slack users whose email address matches a ContractHero account in the connected organisation.

### Do the notifications land in a channel?

No. They arrive as a **direct message** from the ContractHero app, to you personally.

### Can I switch Slack notifications off again?

Any time — and without opening Slack. On the Notifications page, turn the **"All Slack notifications"** master toggle off, or clear individual checkboxes in the **SLACK** column.

## Good to know

* **The short way back.** On the Notifications page, the link **"Manage Slack connection"** („Slack-Verbindung verwalten") takes you straight to the Integrations page — no clicking through the settings.
* **Slash commands work everywhere.** In channels, in group chats and in direct messages. The direct message to yourself is the easiest place to try them out.
* **Slack doesn't replace your other channels.** Email, in-app notification and Slack can be combined freely. Many teams switch Slack on for time-critical topics (tasks, approvals, signatures) and leave the rest on email.
* **The authorisation covers the workspace.** So plan the connection together with the person who holds admin or install rights in Slack — otherwise the process stops on the Slack side.
